SWIMMING WITH
THE TRENDS

By Leon Hall

WHAT'S H01

Focus on the bra cup, in a splash

of metallic chrome from Calvin Klein. Animal prints

and other environmental motifs, like this starfish-en-

crusted cheetah print from Calvin Klein. Retro glam-

our reminiscent of the Riviera pervades Cote D'Azur's

"Jeune Fille" with its laced sides, shaped bra top and

boy-cut leg. The swim dress that epitomized Holly-

wood glamour in the '50s is recreated here by Esther

Williams' company in the suit she calls "The Seven Year

Itch." and from Norma Kamali, in an underwired

jersey swim dress with enough street-smarts to go any-

where. The swim skirt paired with a bandeau top,

shown here in a bright polka dot from Calvin Klein

Sophisticated coverups like Anne Cole's gold-edged

navy wrap-and-tie crop shirt, roomy pull on shorts, and

tailored Admiral's blazer, and in sheer fabrics like the

transparent polka-dot material in these wide-legged

pants from Cote d'Azur. The hippie influence shines

in a patchwork of color and pattern on this wrap skirt

and uplift bra top from Massimo Women. Body-

molding suits like this trim-lined one-piece with mesh

support at the neckline from Robby Len. Sheer

stretch insets as used in Catalina's "Shalimar" suit with

its ancient architectural designs. The classic tank

style, accented by Anne Cole with stainless steel but-

tons. The lingerie look in Norma Kamali's strapless

uplift bra suit in black lace, perfect for pairing with jeans

and a silk blazer for street wear, as well.
