Teacher Award

Nominees Sought Support Groups

Nominations are still being
accepted for the fifth annual
Schochet Family Outstanding
Teacher Award, in recognition
of those who dedicate their
careers to strengthening
Jewish learning and identity
among students.
Applications for the Out-
standing Teacher Award and
two new honors, which have
been added this year for ex-
traordinary achievement in
teaching, are being accepted
through April 8.
The winner of the Out-
standing Teacher Award will
receive up to $2,000 to fund a
project proposed by the candi-
date in any area of Jewish
learning and teaching. The
new awards, which consist of
two $500 prizes, will be
presented to teachers for ex-
cellence in Jewish education.
Anyone can submit names
of candidates, who must be in-
volved in Jewish education in
the metropolitan Detroit
area. Nominees for the three
awards will be judged on their
individual qualities, includ-
ing professionalism, an abil-
ity to be innovative, a
demonstrated commitment to
Jewish education and em-
pathy with students and their
families. In addition, nomi-
nees for the $2,000 Schochet
Family Outstanding Teacher
Award also will be judged on
the potential benefits of their
proposals.
Names of candidates should
be submitted to the Schochet
Awards Committee, P.O. Box
2030, Bloomfield Hills, MI
48303. For entry forms and
information, call Randie
Levin, 642-4260.
