Scholarship For
Israel Study

Matzah Ball
Dance Set

Applications are being ac-
cepted from college students
by the Harry and Sarah
Laker Israel Youth Scholar-
ship Fund for an academic
year's study in Israel.
A $2,500 cash award will be
given to the winning student,
who can select* from the
following universities for his
or her study: Bar-Ilan, Haifa,
Tel Ariv, Ben Gurion or
Hebrew University.
To qualify, the applicant
must be a resident of the
metropolitan Detroit area;
must attend a college or
university in the United
States and must have applied
to a school of higher learning
in Israel.
Applicants for the scholar-
ship, which is co-sponsored by
the Harry and Sarah Laker
Israel Youth Scholarship
Fund and Congregation Beth
Achim, are now available by
calling 352-8670; or writing
to the Laker Scholarship
Fund, 21100 W. 12 Mile Road,
Southfield, MI 48076. The
final day- to apply is May 9,
1993.

Shira BBG will sponsor its
eighth *annual Matzah Ball
dance 8:30-11:30 p.m. April 3
at the Maple-Drake Jewish
Community Center. There is
a charge.
Tickets for the raffle can be
purchased from any Member
in Shira, or at the door. Liv-
ing Energy will provide the
entertainment. -

NCSY Attends
Shabbaton

NCSY (the National Con-
ference of Synagogue Youth)
will conduct a regional Shab-
baton March 26-28. Teen-
agers from cities throughout
the Central East region, in-
cluding Detroit, Cincinnati,
Columbus, Louisville,
Charleston and Pittsburgh,
will join in Cleveland for the
conclave.
Among the delegates to this
Shabbaton will be a con-
tingent from Yachad, a divi-
sion of NCSY for developmen-
tally . disabled Jewish youth.

(ages 3-7) will visit the Mat-
zah Factory in the Maple-
Drake Jewish Community
Center 2 p.m. March 28.

holding a model seder 11

Mizrachi Sets
Comedy Night

Patrons and sponsors are
helping underwrite a major
fund-raiser for Mizrachi
Religious. Zionists of America.
Kosher Comedy Night will
feature a kosher buffet .din-
ner, dessert afterglow and
Robby Berman, an Orthodox
comedian, on March 21 at the
Comedy Castle in Royal Oak.
Proceeds from the event are •
earmarked for Mizrachi ac-
tivities, which range *from
eclucational.programs to sup-
port . for Bnei Akiva, our af-
filiated youth group.
