LOCAL COLUMNIST
ordan Smith, a Uni
versity of Michigan law
student and West
Bloomfield resident
wrote and produced the
musical If You Dare To
Dream. Jordan began
writing musicals during a
playwriting class last year
at U-M while he was a busi-
ness major. "The play just
started writing itself," said
Jordan.
At the age of 23, Jordan al-
ready has many careers. He
spent last summer directing
a smaller version of the play
at Camp Sea-Gull in
Charlevoix. He expanded
and revised the musical to
its present form with 18
songs.
He started composing
songs when he was in a band
at West Bloomfield High
School. He will pursue his
musical interests and would
not mind having a dual ca-
reer after graduating from
law school. "I take things as
they go along, and I'm not
going to pass up any oppor-
tunity."
Some of the staff and cast
involved in the musical in-
clude: Sherry Domstein,
Brian Walker, Bob Keber,
Allyn Woghin, Ellen
Dobrin, Ed" Finegold and
Ayal Miodovnik. If You
Dare To Dream will be per-
formed March 18-21 at the
Schloring Auditorium in
Ann Arbor. For information,
call (313) 763-TKTS.
KIDNEY BENEFIT
More than 300 local
residents previewed spring
fashions and tasted gourmet
Jordan Smith
chocolates at "Puttin' on the
Ritz," a benefit for the Na-
tional Kidney Foundation of
Michigan. Most of the
gourmet chocolates were
loaded with calories except
for the truffles from Weight
Watchers. Some of the sup-
porters included: Marilyn
Habsburg, Suzanne
Lucas, Jackie Gordon,
Amy Singer, Ruthie
Tucker, Lisa Lis, Chis and
Richard Mark and Lisa
Lagnas.
DENTAL MAGIC
Good brushing- habits and
proper nutrition are things
that Southfield dentist Earl
Bogrow teaches his pa-
tients and local students. He
participated in Children's
Dental Health Month by
visiting area schools. Since
he is an amateur magician,
he combined his message
with magic tricks and
humor. He is a master at
