. . . $25 per person includes
live entertainment by the Big
Fish trio, complimentary
cocktails, beer and wine and
tastings from seven food sta-
tions highlighting 15 low fat
items.
IT STARTED with a
customer saying, "If you could
only make a pizza with mat-
zah instead of regular pizza
crust." . . . This was a year
ago and since marketing its
7" matzah pizza at the Cot-
tage Inn Pizza Farmington
Hills site, it has been a boom-
ing success so much so that it
is on the menu all year .. .
The matzah pizza is now at
both the Orchard Lake Road
locale and on S. Woodward in
Birmingham.
SALLY CHESTNUT writes
. . . "In the great myths, a boy
enters manhood by confron-
ting a great challenge; slay-
ing a dragon, for instance. In
Judaism, boys enter manhood
by accepting and par-
ticipating in mitzvot. For
Michael Topper, son of Sandy
and Bonnie Topper and gran-
don of Sally Chestnut and
Goldie Topper, ,both the
secular and traditional quests
were accomplished in the
course of two weeks.
"Mike captured the gold
medal in the men's sabre
event (ages 13 and under) at
the Junior Olympics in Col-
orado Springs, Feb. 15, which
places him first in the coun-
try. Fencing, a game of mind
power as well as physical
stamina and agility, has been
Mike's passion for four years.
Mike attributes his skill to
his coach, Yuri Rabinovich,
who was a member of the
Russian National Team, the
1972 Israeli Olympic Team
and two-time All American
sabre champion for Wayne
State University, and to the
inspiration and friendship of
David Stollman, son of Ber-
nard and Barbara Stollman,
national sabre champion,
member of the World Cup
team, Pan-American sabre
team and alternate to the
Olympics this past year.
"Mike then- went on to
celebrate his bar mitzvah at
Congregation Shaarey Zedek,
March 6, and as he describes
it, became a full Jew. As with
fencing, Michael recognized
the support, encouragement
and guidance lovingly given
him by Rabbi Groner and
Rabbi Gershon, teachers Itsy
Weisberg, Donna Feldman
and Betsy Wolf."

ple Beth El's Handleman

award-winning Tripoli Steel
Band will be Josh Silverstein

3 at Andiamo Italia on E. 14
Mile, between Mound and
Van Dyke, with seating
limited to 100 . . . $100 per
person includes a gourmet
seven-course dinner plus
wines with each course . .
Second Monday of the month,
Andiamo owner Joe Vicari
hosts regional feasts with
$34.50 seven-course dinner a
usual sellout . . . April will be
Umbria.
RESTAURANT owners
should take note that in too
many instances not enough is
done to make sure that a per-
son isn't left standing at the
door until a host or hostess
finally arrives, scoops up
menus and barks, "follow me"
without even making eye con-
tact . . . Also, it's not so hard
to simply make that employee
dealing with the customer
smile and at least seem as if
he or she gives a darn . . . In
the restaurant business to-
day, with times as tough as
they are, focusing efforts on
keeping customers happy and
coming back is not just a mat-
ter of building sales . . . it's a
matter of survival.

NEW RESTAURANT

opening is by the Honey
Tree's Tom Goulas . . . It's a
full-service Greek eatery,
Main Centre Grill, on Centre
Street in Northville. [11
