ANGEL OF DEATH page 39

Song of Songs, and an aperi-
on , a kind of sedan chair
complete with curtains made
from fabric produced in Dam-
ascus for Saudi Arabia's King
Fand. The exhibits will be
copies of items actually used
by Jewish brides in ancient
Israel, before the destruction
of the Temple in 70 C.E. Mr.
Prager will rent the pieces to
new brides in Israel.
Mr. Prager's greatest chal-
lenge now is simply to find
the best facility. What he
never stops to think about is

whether his museum will
have the desired effect.

The Aczel painting, he
says, cannot help but shock,
or haunt, or terrify, or make
viewers tremble. Some have
actually fainted upon seeing
it. Others weep. Once on dis-
play in an appropriate set-
ting, its power can only
magnify.

"One thing is certain," he
says. "Whatever you were be-
fore you walk into that room
will change forever." ❑
