Course Title: "RADICAL TRADITIONALISTS"
Instructor: Rabbi Aaron Bergman, Beth Abraham Hillel Moses
This class will examine, through text study and discussion, 3
giants of Jewish thought: Rabbi Moshe ben Maimon (Maimonides), Rabbi
Nachman of Bratslav, and Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel. Each was steeped in
the tradition; each left Judaism very different from how he had found it.

Course Title: "THE HEBREW ILLUMINATED MANUSCRIPT"
Instructor: Sybil Mintz, Michigan State University
This slide lecture course will examine three themes: (1) the
development of the painted page in Jewish Manuscripts, (2) the question of the
human image in Jewish art, and (3) evidence of contacts with the Islamic and
Christian worlds.

Both of these exciting courses will meet on four successive
Thursday evenings, March 11, 18, 25 and April 1, 7:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Midrasha College of Jewish
Studies 7-7:30 p.m. March 16
at Congregation Beth Achim.
The series explores great
Jewish books and their im-
pact on Jews and Judaism.
Other topics in the series
are: "The Shulkhan Arukh:
Setting the Table for
Judaism" (March 23) and
"lgeret Moshe: Rabbis Talk
Today" (March 30). Students

for individual sessions. There

Yiddish Class
At Shir Shalom

Temple Shir Shalom and
Midrasha College of Jewish
Studies will offer an eight-
week Tuesday night class in
"Continuing Yiddish"
7:30-8:30 p.m. March 16-June
1 at Shir Shalom (class will
not meet March 30, April 6,
13 or May 25 because of the
Pesach and Shavuot
holidays). The class is a con-
tinuation of a fall-winter
course and will be taught by
Rabbi Ahron Davidson. New
students are welcome to join
the class, which is designed
for people who took the fall-
winter course or who have
equivalent knowledge of con-
versational Yiddish.
Advance registration is en-
couraged. For tuition infor-

Showcase."
The fair is a joint effort of
the Married Group of Temple
Beth El, metroPARENT
magazine and Providence
Hospital. On hand will be ex-
perts in books, toys, child care,
pediatrics, dance, sport, hob-
bies, camps, furniture,
photography and

entertainment.
"Focus On Kids" will
feature arts and crafts, a pet-
ting zoo and play area. A trio
of free afternoon perfor-
mances will begin with
Twinky the Clown at 12:15
p.m., followed by the Magical
Entertainment of Bernie
Stevens at 1 p.m. and a 2 p.m.
family concert with Anne
Shaheen, children's singer,
and Lisa Daley and Lauren
Erickson of Expressive
Interludes.
"Focus on Kids" is open to
the public at no charge.
Snacks and light lunches are
available at a charge. Door (
prizes, donated by many of
the exhibitors, will be award-
ed throughout the day.

`Jewish Love'
Discussion Topic

Congregation B'nai Moshe
will continue its Jewish Fami-
ly Encounters series 8 p.m.
March 17. The topic will be
"Mate-Checkmate: Jewish
Love and Relationships." The
discussion will feature Dr.
Nancy Gad-Harf and Elaine
Zaks.
The program is open to the
entire community at no
charge.
