Talmudic scholar and
educator Rabbi Mayer
Rabinowitz will speak March
20 at Congregation Beth
Shalom. His Shabbat morn-
ing sermon will be "Dealing
with Jews Who Are Different
from Most of Us: Rabbinic
Responses," and his lunch and
learn topic following services
will be "Prolonging Life at
All Costs: Ethical Dilemmas!'
This Shabbat is sponsored
jointly by the Beth Shalom
Men's Club and Cultural
Commission. Men's Club
members will be Torah
readers and will participate
in conducting the services.

Rabbi Rabinowitz is chief
librarian and associate pro-
fessor of Talmud at the
Jewish Theological Seminary.
He is editor/translator of

Jewish Law in the State of
Israel and author of several

critical editions of medieval
halachic works. A member of
the Rabbinical Assembly's
Committee on Jewish Law
and Standards, for which he
served as both secretary and
research consultant, Rabbi
Rabinowitz lectures widely on
issues concerning Jewish law.
