to keep families and orga-
nizations together during
the trip.
"We wanted people to
feel good and comfort-
able," said Mission direc-
tor Tami Margolis.
"People like to travel
together with people they
know. Others like meeting
new people when they
travel. Trying to match
1,285 people — trying to
break them into cate-
gories, planes, buses and
hotels — is one very big
puzzle that we have put
together successfully."
Thirty buses, each car-
rying 44 people, were
rented in Israel. Each bus
has a separate itinerary.
Groups and friends have
the option of traveling
together on the same bus.
Members of Congregation
Shaarey Zedek, for
instance, will tour the
country on two buses.

Some travelers are
personalizing the
trip by celebrating
family simchas
during their stay
in Israel.

Israel tours for 8,000 peo-
ple each year, has sched-
uled the day-to-day
Mission activities.
Some travelers are per-
sonalizing the trip by
celebrating family sim-
chas during their stay in
Israel. One couple is trav-
eling with the Mission on
their honeymoon.
Items on the Mission
agenda include: A tree-
planting ceremony at
Modi'in, the birthplace of
the Maccabees; visiting
Yad Vashem, the
Holocaust memorial; and
touring excavations in the
Jewish Quarter of
Jerusalem, including the
Herodian mansion and the
rabbinic tunnel.
Participants also will
visit an absorption center
and talk to new olim from
Russia and Ethiopia.
"I think Israel's become
the place to be — every-
body's going to be in Israel
on April 18th," Mrs.
Sherman said. "Why
should you be in Detroit?"
The Miracle Mission
office is still accepting
names on its waiting
list. ❑
