COUNTDOWN chametz, not spring cleaninf , sorting out old clothes, wash - ing the curtains or anr, number of other little jobu which tend to get incorp orated into Passover work. In order to avoid going te sleep at 3 a.m. the nighl , before the seder, I try to get my kitchen ready 2-3 day , i before to give me a chance tc do some cooking. The ques tion then is, what do you feet, the family during those days', They could eat chametz ir another room, but I haw found from experience that ii is easier to serve at least thE main meal of the day in the kitchen itself on Passover plates. This year, with the first seder night being on a Mon. day, I've decided to cook foi Shabbat two days before, it Passover utensils, but IATE1 shall eat on disposable platen because we shall have Sab bath challot with the meal. With a large family to care for, if I were to wait until aftei Shabbat to change everything .-. over, I'd be heading for a cou- ple of nerve-wracking days until Passover. It's a sad fact that most women prefer Yom Kippur to Passover. They would rather fast for a day than face the upheaval involved in cleaning for Passover. But if we put Passover cleaning into perspective, try and take it calmly and with plenty of time, then we'll also be able to lean back at the seder atable and enjoy the really important part of thf, holiday. ❑ Grains were kept whole and enjoyed for the rich, hearty taste.
