Zeidan Atashi
Temple Israel
Hosts Atashi
Zeidan Atashi will address
the congregation at services 8
p.m. March 5 at Temple
Israel, speaking on "Chances
of Co-existence for Different
People in the Middle East."
Mr. Atashi is an Israeli Druze
Arab who is the education
minister's adviser on Druze
education. He served two
terms in the Knesset and is a
former member of Israel's
diplomatic corps in the New
York consulate and the
United Nations delegation.
His party's platform em-
phasizes electoral reform and
an active Mideast process and
he is involved in working
toward improved Israeli
Jewish-Arab relations.
Shir Shalom
Plans Class
Temple Shir Shalom and
Midrasha will offer a five-part
course titled "Finding God —
A Spiritual Search," taught
by Rabbi Dannel Schwartz
7:30-8:30 p.m. at Shir
Shalom. Classes will meet
March 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30.
Utilizing material from
Kabbalah and philosophers
such as Buber, Heschel, and
Mordecai Kaplan, the course
will delve into the meaning of
God in our lives, in prayer,
and in Jewish practice.
