Israel To Host
Agritech Exhibit

\

invites you to
a State-wide Seminar on

MIRIAM KREININ

SPECIAL TO THE JEWISH NEWS

his May, an event
is taking
in
Israel that will fill
every hotel from
'Haifa in the North to
Ashkelon in the South.
Agritech Spring '93, the 12th
\International Exhibition of
Agriculture, is in the works.
Agritech '93, a tri-annual
event, is organized by Israel's
% Ministry of Agriculture, the
Israel Export Institute and
the Kibbutz Industries
Association.
"It will be the biggest
Agritech ever," said Mr. Dan
Meiri, head of Agritech from
the Israel Export Institute.
"We are expecting roughly
7,000 foreign visitors and
100,000 Israelis."
' In addition to the exhibi-
tion, Agritech will offer the
sixth International Con-
ference of Water and Irriga-
tion, the third Seminar on
Greenhouse Technology and
the first Seminar on Agro-
Ecology. These conferences
\ will be chaired by top lec
/ Lurers from Israel and abroad.
In less than 100 years,
Israeli agronomists have not
\ , only found innovative solu-
i tions to their farming chal-
lenges, they have passed their
I knowledge to agricultural
;communities across the globe.
Israeli agro-technologists,
scientists and researchers
have invented technology to
deal with such problems as
lack of fertile soil, low rainfall
and a hot climate. These
>challenges have in turn be-
come research experiments,
with results that lead Israel
to the top of the industry in
) many sectors. For example,
Israel has among the most
productive dairy and
livestock industries in the
world. In cotton production,
Israel gets the highest yields
in the world with the lowest
amount of water utilized.
Israeli researchers have
developed cost-effective ways
to grow fruits and vegetables
off-season.
Israel's worldwide reputa-
tion for agricultural technol-
ogy and production is bring-
ing in professionals from over
115 countries. Agriculturists
all the way from the Far East,
North America, South Africa,
Europe, Russia and more, are
coming.
With just three months left
until Agritech '93, a year's
work of planning is about to
pay off. The event looks like
a success.
