MADE IN MICHIGAN FLOWER GIRLS Peggy Krug and Dottie Popp, Southfield residents and sisters, are the designers, manufacturers and owners of Peggen- dott Originals, Inc. Their company has been providing handmade gowns and headpieces to local, retail bridal shops for the last 12 years. "Everything is made by hand, and all our materials are from the United States," says Peggy Krug. Ms. Krug is proud of the fact that her quality gowns are made in America. "It's so important because so much of our money goes overseas," adds her sister, Dottie Popp. The sisters learned their trade from their mother, who taught them how to sew. They make 12 different gowns and 42 headpieces. All their designs are originals. Peggendot usually produces 10 gowns and 35 headpieces a month that they sell across the country. The headpieces retail from $60 to $260, while the gowns range from $600 to $1500. "We have a great price point and a great name," says Ms. Krug. "Our bridal gowns are so pretty that our customers usually put them on display in their homes." The wedding party is complete with these flower girls wearing dresses sewn from patterns at Haberman Fabrics in Royal Oak. This cotton chintz floral print is from Butterick pattern #5344. PRINCESS BRIDE "Tulle is the fresh look this sea- son," says Laura Rubin, buyer at Alvin's Bride in Birmingham. This gown by the House of Bianchi features French tulle. The jew- eled neckline, keyhole back and cap sleeves are romantic touches. The bodice is point de Venise lace. The magical mix of fabrics are elegant and sophisticated.
