We are a unique experience," says Charles

local brides and grooms have
many options for bridal registry services in
1993.
Southfield attorney Cherie
Morganroth, who married
Randy Lewis on December 19,
chose to register at Hudson's,
Slades and Studio 330. "You get
more of a selection when you
register at more than one place,
and ifs more convenient for
everyone," she says.
The newest places to register
are at the Somerset Collection
in Troy. Crate & Barrel offers
moderate prices, while Neiman
Marcus has an exclusive
Steuben crystal gallery, and
Tiffany has 156 years of experi-
ence helping brides and
grooms.
Eileen Reidy, store manager
at Crate & Barrel, says that her
store has items that begin at $5, Cherie Morganroth shows Randy her china selection at Slades.

Hudson's department stores have recent-
ly updated their bridal registry
system to include a computer-
ized scanner. According to De-
bra Remington, gift registry
manager of Dayton Hudson Cor-
poration, brides and grooms can
select items without even writ-
ing them down. A bridal consul-
tant follows them through the
store and scans the items they
choose with a mini-computer.
"Its accurate and can be printed
in less than 2 minutes. It's a
dramatic time saver," notes Ms.
Remington.
Ms. Remington advises cou-
ples to make an appointment for
this hi-tech system. Plan on reg-
istering at least one month be-
fore the first shower and 2 to 3
months prior to the wedding.
Hudson's even has a catego-
ry on their bridal registry for
items the couple want, but are not available
at their stores.
Smaller stores like Slades and Studio 330
say that they offer personalized service and
carry brand names as well as unique items.
