Miracle Mission to Israel
will have another opportu-
nity to meet with the lead-
ership and other partici-
pants for "ruach and
rugalach" (great spirit and
good cookies) 7:30 p.m.
Feb. 8 at the Max M.

Mission-goers are invit-
ed to attend a three-part
lecture series starting
next week to introduce the
history and current events
of Israel. Sponsored by the
Jewish Federation and the
Jewish Community Cen-
ter, all lectures will begin
at 8 p.m. at the Maple-
Drake JCC, and will be
repeated the following
evening for the conve-
nience of participants.
Dr. Raymond Tanter,
professor of political sci-
ence at the University of
Michigan, will begin the
series with "The Politics of
Israel: Impact on U.S.
Jewry and the Peace
Process," Feb. 2, 3.
Sivan Maas, director of
Federation's Israel Desk
and the community
shlicha, will discuss
"Jerusalem: a Central
Theme of Jewish Life,"
Feb. 17, 18.
Rabbi Sherwin Wine,
founder of Humanistic
Judaism and spiritual
leader of the Birmingham
Temple, will conclude the
series with "History of the
Jews and of Israel," March
10,11.
The mission office con-
tinues to accept new appli-
cations with deposits to
the $1,993 trip's waiting
list. Those on the waiting
list are moved into the
mission, filling cancella-
tions on a first-come, first-
served basis.
