OPEN COMMUNITY FORUM 8:00 P.M. strated by terrorists who com- mit the most heinous crimes in the name of their "cause," destroying the lives of the in- nocent without regard for the most fundamental standards of human decency. Terrorists rationalize murder in the name of progress, justify violence for the sake of revolution and portray wan- ton killing as a form of political heroism. The expulsion of 400 leaders of the llamas organization responsible for terrorist attacks on Israelis has evoked (predictably) the criticism of the United Na- tions. The government of Israel acted to defend the lives and welfare of its citizens. This action was in- tended not as a retaliatory act, but as a preventive measure in the face of a policy of terror under taken by radical Islamic fundamen- talist organizations. Fanati- cism and extremism, un- checked by moral restraint, lead to violence and destruction. We must overcome the plague of darkness in whatever form it appears. We turn to God to open our eyes that we may see our brother and sister in every man and woman. ❑ DETROIT'S HIGHEST RATES Minimum Deposit of $500 12 MON1H CERTIFICATE OF DEPOSIT Temple Israel will begin a 10-week course on Introduc- tion to Judaism 7:30-9:30 p.m. Feb. 2 at the temple.
