Well, it is not as daring and dangerous as it sounds but either way, these Dorm One campers really liked the trip. On July 22, 1992, this group of 29 soon-to-be fourth graders and their counselors packed up their sleeping bags and bug spray, collected firewood, and loaded the big green Tamarack bus. Within 45 minutes, these young Dorm One campers were unloading their provi- sions at the campsite and were ready to hit the river. A caravan of 11 canoes lined the banks of the Huron and campers and counselors paddled, sang songs and dodged the occa sional rain showers. Once they made it back to the campsite, the counselors quickly started a fire and, cf) thanks to smart thinking, leaving the wood • in a tent to keep it dry, starting the camp- L,.. = fire was not difficult. = U, Jobs were divided and some campers • made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches; some cut vegetables and others helped cook - the spaghetti. Everyone generally agreed dinner was 1 fantastic and what campfire would be complete without s'mores. After a long day everyone was exhausted and settled into tents to .., = spend a night with nature. 1— In the morning breakfast was made, tents were taken down and campers returned to camp after bonding with nature.
