behalf of the Allied Jewish
Campaign, 7 p.m. Feb. 2.
The program, which will
feature hors d'oeuvres and a
cash bar, is sponsored by the
YAD $100 and $500 sections.
-The event, which is open to
contributors of $100 or more
to the 1993 Campaign, will be
at the Old Woodward Grill in
downtown Birmingham.
Currently the coordinator
of the New York Jewish Coali-
tion for Somali Refugee
Relief, Ms. Miller was one of
the few Americans to witness
and participate in the year-
; long odyssey of Ethiopia's
Jews leading up to their ex-
odus as a field staff member
of the American Association
for Ethiopian Jews. She lived
and worked in Addis Ababa
during that time.

The Temple Emanu-El
l ibrary will sponsor a book
review 10 a.m. Jan. 24 at the
temple. Rabbi Lane Steinger
will review Jewish Humor:
What the Best Jewish Jokes
Say About the Jews by Rabbi
Joseph Telushkin. There is no
charge.
The Library Advisory Com-
mittee will sponsor a Book
Fair 6:30-8:30 p.m. Jan. 28,
7:00-8:15 p.m. Jan. 29 and 9
a.m.-noon Jan. 31 at Temple
Emanu-El. Selections for
children and adults will in-
clude picture books, fiction,
folk tales, holiday literature
and books on family tradi-
tions. All funds will go to the
Temple Emanu-El library.

Issues concerning the Jewish
family and the marriage rela-
tionship will be discussed this

Scholar-in-Residence Dr.
'Judith R. Baskin, chair of the
New York at Albany.
