The first event, which will include an evening of socializ- ing with people with develop- ment disabilities from JARC, will be held 7:30-9 p.m. Feb. 1 at the Jimmy Prentis Morris Jewish Community Center. On Feb. 14, volunteers will assist at the Help Against Violent Encounters Now Counseling Agency (Haven), where they will plan a Valen- tine's Day party for children who are victims of sexual assault or domestic violence. Participants in the 12:30-2 p.m. program also will play games with and serve food to the children. The Volunteer Network will tour the Coalition for Tem- porary Shelter (COTS) facili- ty on Feb. 22, mingle with clients and serve lunch from 10:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m. In March, volunteers will share a Kabbalat Shabbat with Jewish Vocational Ser- vice Project Outreach clients with mental disabilities who reside at Livonia Nursing Home (March 5). Participants will perform a Purim shpiel for residents of Teitel Federa- tion Apartments (March 11). At Pontiac Transitional Hous- ing for the homeless (PATH), volunteers will paint a mural, help refinish furniture and assist in spring cleaning (March 14). At Sinai Hospital, participants will visit with patients, take a gift cart around to patients' rooms and assist in the emergency room (March 21).
