Events, Recognition

BBYO will sponsor its second

Jewish Heritage Night 7' p.m.
Jan. 24 at the Maple-Drake
Jewish Community Center.
The theme is "Holocaust and
the Resurgence of Neo-
Nazism Today." Prior to the
program, AZA • and BBG
chapters will hold weekly
meetings at the JCC begin-
ning at 5 p.m.
The program will feature a
tour of the Holocaust
Memorial Center, followed by
a presentation by Dr. Sidney
Bolkosky, Holocaust expert
and professor at the Univer-
sity of Michigan-Dearborn.
The AZA Basketball
League will continue 8 a.m.-2
p.m. Jan. 24 at Oakland Com-
munity College, Orchard
Ridge Campus.
Michigan Region BBYO
will hold its annual Adviser
Continuing Education Week-
end Jan. 22-24, at the Charles
and Florence Milan BBYO
Conference Centre in Belle
River, Ontario.
Nine AZA and BBG
chapters successfully entered
contests and programs at the
Michigan BBYO Regional
Convention.
Kishon AZA and Shoshan-
na BBG were the Most
Distinguished Chapters.
Jolson AZA, Achayot BBG,
Shira BBG and Zahav BBG
earned Honorable Mentions,
finishing as runners-up in
total points achieved. Jolson
AZA won the AZA Quiz Bowl
competition. In the BBG Quiz
Bowl competition, Shira BBG
won.

Machon Plans
Conference

Machon L'Torah will hold a
lunchtime conference 12:15
p.m. Jan. 27 at the offices of
Coopers and Lybrand, 400
Renaissance Center, Detroit.
The program will include
lunch followed by a discussion
led by Rabbi Avraham Jacob-
vitz. There is no charge. For

NCJW
Allocates Funds

The National Council of
Jewish Women, Greater
Detroit Section, has allocated
$5,000 to Jewish Family Ser-
vice to assist the homeless.
The funds were raised from
the sale of house pins.
