Lecture Series
A three-part lecture series,
> starting next week, will in-
troduce participants in the
>--April 18-28 Michigan Miracle
Mission to the history and
current events of Israel at the
Maple-Drake Jewish Com-
munity Center. Sponsored by
the Jewish Federation and

the Center, all lectures will
_,1:)egin at 8 p.m. Each lecture
will be repeated the following
• evening for the convenience of •
participants.
Dr. Raymond Tanter, pro-
fessor ofpolitical science at
the University of Michigan,
will begin the series with
"The Politics of Israel: Impact
on U.S. Jewry and the Peace
Process," Feb. 2 and 3.
Sivan Maas, director of
Federation's Israel Desk, will
discuss "Jerusalem: a Central
Theme of Jewish Life," Feb. 17
• and 18.
Rabbi Sherwin Wine,
founder of Humanistic
Judaism, will conclude the
series with "History of the
Jews and of Israel," March 10
and 11. At each briefing, mis-
sion participants will receive
_updated information about
the trip and the latest news
from Israel.

Temple Israel
Sets Fund Raiser

Temple Israel's annual fund
raiser, "The Art of Food and
Wine" will take place 7:30
p.m. Jan. 16 at the temple.
The event will feature tast-
ings from 40 restaurants and
over 100 vintages of wine.
A silent auction and raffle
will round out the evening.
