Congregation B'nai Moshe
will sponsor a program
geared toward teen-agers
and their families to discuss
educational and social pro-
grams available to Jewish
high school students in the
Detroit area. This program,
the third in a series titled
Jewish Family Encounters,
will be held 8:00 p.m. Jan. 20
at the synagogue.
The topic for the evening
is "Opportunities of Adoles-
cence." The discussion will
feature Howard Gelberd, ex-
ecutive director of the Agency
for Jewish Education, and
Deanne Ginns-Gruenberg,
psychologist. The program is
open to the community at no
charge.
The Youth Department of
Congregation B'nai Moshe
will hold a Youth Retreat
open to members in the 3rd
through 8th grades. The re-
treat will be held at Butzel
Conference Center in Orton-
ville Jan. 22-23.
The bus will leave B'nai
Moshe 3 p.m. Jan. 22 and
will return at 7:45 p.m. Jan.
23. The retreat will include
meals, Jewish programming,
rooms and adult supervision.
Rabbi Elliot Pachter will
lead services throughout the
retreat. Jason Weckstein is
the nature specialist; coun-
selors will be Nancy Vardy,
director of education and
youth at B'nai Moshe; Loren
Williams, the B'nai Moshe
USY adviser; Emily Klar-
man, B'nai Moshe Youth Ad-
viser; Steve Rosender, a
Kadima adviser at Adat
Shalom Synagogue; and Deb-
bie Gantz, a certified ele-
mentary school teacher. The
theme will be "Respect for
Nature."

USY Hosts
Program Night
United Synagogue Youth
(USY) will hold a summer
program information night 7
p.m. Feb. 7 at Adat Shalom
Synagogue.
Jewish teens, grades 9 - 12,
as well as their parents, are
invited to attend this pro-
gram. USY sponsors a vari-
ety of summer programs
which include USY on
Wheels, Israel Pilgrimage,
USY Israel-Poland Pilgrim-
age and USY Eastern Euro-
pean Pilgrimage.

Plans Event

The Applebaum Jewish

workshop for parents of mid-
dle school and high school ag-

at the Parenting Center.

challenges of raising
