Members of the Temple
Beth El Young People's
Society will host the
Michigan State Temple
Youth Winter Conclave
Jan. 22-24.
The conclave, with the
theme "Rediscovering
Tradition," will get under
wayt with a pot-luck
Shabbat dinner at the
temple. Dinner will be fol-
lowed by a creative
Shabbat service written
by the Beth El YPS. On
Jan. 23 there will be a
semi-formal dinner dance.
Between the two events
and extending into
Sunday will be a series of
programs.

Adat Shalom
Youth Plans

The Adat Shalom Youth
Department has planned a
number of programs dur-
ing the month of January
for children 2 1/2 years
through high school.
The Nitzanim Youth
Group, ages 2 1/2 through 5
years, will take part in an
afternoon of art Jan. 10.
Makor, grades 1-3, will
visit the Cranbrook
Science Museum that
afternoon, while Garinim,
grade 4-5, will have an
outing at Marvin's
Marvelous Mechanical
Museum.
Shoresh, grades 6-8,
will combine with the syn-
agogue high school stu-
dents at "Play and Pray"
10:30 a.m. Jan. 23.
Following services and
lunch, the group will walk
to the Hillel Day School
gym for an afternoon of
basketball. Shoresh will
meet at 3:45 p.m. Jan. 24
at Whirlyball on Drake in
West Bloomfield. There is
a charge.
The Synagogue's United
Synagogue Youth Chap-
ter, MTUSY, will begin
the new year at the
Greater Detroit USY
Dance 8:30 p.m. Jan. 9 at
B'nai Israel. There is a
charge. MTUSY's monthly
"Play and Pray" will take
place Jan. 23. The high
school students will go
tobogganing Jan. 31, leav-
ing the synagogue at 1:30
and returning at 4 p.m.
Adat Shalom youth in
grades 6 through 12 will

participate in the congre-
gation's annual Tamarack
Weekend Feb. 5-7.

combined schools to con-
duct a model wedding and
a model naming ceremony--
and brit milah.

Economic Forum
Hears Speaker

the topic of Charles T.
Fisher III, chairman and
president of NBD Bank,
when he addresses the
Economic Forum noon
Jan. 11, at the Radisson
Hotel in Southfield.
