Bonds Program
Pays For Trips
New York — High school and
college students who travel to
Israel under programs
organized by the American
Zionist Youth Foundation can
help finance their trips with
State of Israel Bonds.
Under the program, Israel
h $250 Certificates that are at
least one year old can be ap-
plied toward El Al Israel
airline tickets to and from
Israel. Both $250 Certificates
and Current Income Bonds
that are at least one year old
can help defray incidental
travel expenses incurred
while on AZYF trips in Israel.
When put toward incidental
• travel expenses, the State of
Israel $250 Certificate can be
redeemed in Israel for Israeli
shekels for the equivalent of
$260 after being held for one
year, $275 after 2 years, $295
after 3 years, $320 after 4
years, and $360 after 5 years.
The Current Income Bond is
available in units or
multiples of $500 and has an
annual interest rate of 4.00%.
It can be redeemed in Israel
after being held at least one
year for its principal value in
shekels.
The American Zionist
Youth Foundation organizes
dozens of trips each year de-
signed to increase partici-
pants' understanding of
Jewish history and culture
through first-hand experi-
ences, both in Israel and
Eastern Europe. AZYF facili-
tates educational seminars
for youth, college students
and young adults in the U.S.
and is also the organizer of
the annual Salute to Israel
Parade on New York's Fifth
Avenue that celebrates
Israel's independence.
