open its 1993-94 season with
four productions: Giacchino
. Rossini's The Barber of
Seville, Franz Lehar's The
Merry Widow, Giacomo Puc-
cini's Turandot, and a new
production of Charles
Gounod's Faust. The company
will also present a full-length
ballet production of Sergei
Prokofiev's Cinderella.

The University Musical
Society of University of
Michigan will host several
events in January.
- Sweet Honey In the Rock
will appear 8 p.m. Jan. 8 at
Hill Auditorium. This
African-American quintet
blends the blues' melancholy,
gospel's power, and the sweet
sound of jazz, church and com-
munity revival.
Mstislav Rostropovich,
cellist, will perform 4 p.m.
Jan. 10 at Hill Auditorium.
Tokyo String Quartet will
be on stage 8 p.m. Jan. 14 at
Rackham Auditorium.
Urban Bush Women will
appear 8 p.m. Jan. 16 and 3
p.m. Jan. 17 at the Power
Center for the Performing
Arts. The ethnic performance
group explores the struggle,
growth, transformation, and
survival of the human spirit
through movement, live
music, vocalizations, and
drama.
Little Angels Children's
Folk Ballet of Korea will per-
form 4 p.m. Jan. 24 at the
Power Center.
Vienna Chamber Orchestra
with Philippe Entremont,
onductor and pianist, will
