d'oeuvres accompany the bub-

always a good sign.
DEBUT ALBUM by
localite Mike Gealer, Paradise
Highway, has been climbing
the charts steadily since be-
ing released this past August.
Mike is the son of Aubrey
and Beverly Gealer, and
shows a lot of talent on sax-
ophone, flute and vocals with
his fine styling . . . He blends
musical influences from
rhythm and blues to New
Age, jazz to reggae and pop to
Latin.
While growing up as a
member of Congregation
Beth Moses with his parents,
Mike attended Borman
Elementary.
NEXT IN THE successful
series of Opera Nights at
Sultan's Orchard Lake Road
and 14 Mile in Robin's Nest,
is this Monday evening.
GENERAL MANAGER
John Boch hit it on the nose
in describing the lounge bar
at recent pre-opening of Mor-
ton's Steak House in
Southfield . . . "Like sitting
in your family room at home"
. . . It's small and intimate,
sure to become a quick
favorite.
Morton's itself is a
beautiful, mahogany-filled
dining room that seems to be
in a select class of elegance
. . . It is famous for its steaks,
but people loved the whole
salmon display from which
pieces were taken for ap-
petizers . . . This is number 20
for the chain that originally
started in Chicago . . . Opera-
tion 21 will open next year in
Las Vegas.
Morton's people are very
professional . . . "They know
what they're doing," says Bob
Sosnick, whose new Oakland
Towne Square on North-
western, between Lahser and
Civic Center Drive, has an
outside entrance for Metro
Detroit's newest entry into
the dining field . . . Beverly
Beltaire, had of PR
Associates, who blew the horn
for Morton's, celebrates 30
years in 1993 . . . She must
have been a teeny bopper
when starting out . . . Bev has
never looked better!
NEW OWNER of Ex-
ecutive Custom Shirtmakers
is former clothing manufac-
turer rep David Brontman . .
Previous owner Ernest
Drucker leaves after 25 years
in the downtown Birm-
ingham sector to relax while
being with wife Marietta and
family in Florida.
RECENT ANNUAL
Chocolate Jubilee at Ritz
Carlton to benefit the fight
against Alzheimer's disease
had visitors drooling at the
displays by over 30
restaurants and providers .. .
But no fret, folks had as much
as they wanted in samples
while not getting sick.
And many chocoholics ac-
tually left without eating the
goodies in bags provided for
them .. At least almost all
"What the heck!" said
Alice Simons as she munch-
ed glassy-eyed, "I went this
far, what's a little more?"
Ernie Solomon buying a
chocolate Key Lime pie for his
staff at the office . . . or so he
said . . . Marlene Borman
passing out wrapped candy to
all booth attendees . . . Mar-
ty Benson tasting his Lady
Godiva products at American
Gourmet's booth . . . more
than making up for wife San-
dy who doesn't indulge .. .
Ron Asmar at the Vineyards
setup dipping dates into
melted chocolate . . . Peter
Loren, Opus One super chef,
ready to answer any and all
questions on chocolate . . .
he's an expert . . . Bluma
Siegal flitting from booth to
booth with warm hellos of ex-
citement . . . No, Bluma isn't
running for office.
Weight Watchers bossgal
Florine Mark-Ross and hubby
Bill Ross with an empty bag
. . . Florine eat chocolate? .. .
"Not me!" . . . If a prize were
given for graciousness, Tasso
and Carol Bozadzis of Tasso's
on The Boardwalk would cap-
ture it with ease.
People were eating choco-
late like it wasn't going to be
made anymore . . . Sid Samp-
son having to leave early
after somebody bumped him
. . . The filled chocolate balls
he had wrapped in his pocket
oozed out into a log of goo .. .
Sid came back and wife Meryl
dropped one of Ron Asmar's
chocolate dates on the suit he
had just changed to . . . "So
what," said Sid. "It's all for
charity!"
