high standard for those who
may follow.
Ms. Zimmerman has the
rare ability and sensitivity to
maintain the delicate balance
between aesthetic quality
and the needs of the Jewish
community. Through exten-
sive research and numerous
contacts in the world of art
she has provided us with
distinctive exhibitions which
were always displayed with
the highest professional
standards.
In her brief tenure, Ms.
Zimmerman has established
the reputation of the Janice
Charach Epstein Museum-
Gallery. Let us hope we can
find another curator as
outstanding as Ms. Zim-
merman.

Kudos For
Rob Leider

I read with much interest
your Nov. 13 article concern-
ing Rob Leider and his
students at West Bloomfield
High School. I am very proud
that your newspaper chose to
highlight the work of this
very talented man.
In Pirke Avot, Jewish
wisdom instructs us: "Get
yourself a teacher, acquire a
friend to study with you." As
a former student of Mr.
Leider's at WBHS, I can
assure your readers that this
wisdom is indeed relevant
when the subject is Rob
Leider.
Rob's unique ability to serve
as both teacher and friend
helped me to discover new
ideas and talents inside me.
He was there for me during
the many ups and downs of
high school life. I know the
same is true for many others.
He is a real mentsh. I owe him
a great deal.

East Reporting in America
claims that National Public
Radio (NPR) is biased against --
Israel, and that Father Robert
Drinan has resigned from
CAMERA in reaction to this
attack. Father Drinan called
the attack "terribly absurd."
As a supporter of Israel, and
a regular listener to NPR, I, I
agree with Father Drinan:
"NPR is about as balanced as
you get."

Terminology
Is Reviewed

Tel Aviv (JTA) — Israel will
re-evaluate terminology
used in news broadcasts to
refer to territories captured
in the Six-Day War, accor-
ding to an Israeli Arab
leader.
Dr. Ahmed Tibi said the
minister in charge of a
public body that oversees
state-supported television
and radio has promised to
look into his complaints
about their use of the names
"Judea and Samaria" to re_ :-
fer to the West Bank.
That terminology, which is
used in the Bible, has long
been preferred by the right,:
wing Likud bloc, which be
lieves that the area is an in- '
separable part of the biblical_
Land of Israel. The govern- -
ing Labor Party and its
allied Meretz bloc, on the
other hand, favor territorial
compromise.
Dr. Tibi said that Edu-
cation Minister Shulamit
Aloni, who heads Meretz,?
has pledged to ask the Israel
Broadcasting Authority to
re-examine the names by
which news reports refer to "±
the territories, which came
under Israeli control in
1967.
A spokesman of the min-
istry has denied instructions
are given to radio and televi-
sion broadcasters on ter-
minology to be used for the
territories.
Dr. Tibi is chairman of thel
association of academics in
the Israeli Arab town of
Taiba and is reported to
have close ties with the
Palestine Liberation Organ-
ization.
He said he had written to
Ms. Aloni on the issue and -
received a reply from an ad-
viser to the minister, who
also confirmed that the offi-
cial term used by Israel at
the peace talks is "the ter-
ritories."
