The Detroit Friends of the
Jewish Theological Seminary
has appoinnted Paula Glazier
and Dr. David Harold as
1992-93 education chairmen.
Paula Glazier is a member
of the board of trustees of
Congregation Shaarey Zedek.
She is past president of
Women's American ORT,
Michigan Region, a life
member of Hadassah and she
is active in the Women's Divi-
sion of the Allied Jewish
Campaign.
Dr. David Harold is active
in the Allied Jewish Cam-
paign and serves as the pro-
fessional health division
chairman. He has also served
as the Detroit chairman of
the UJA Young Leadership
Cabinet and has led several
Federation missions to Israel.
Dr. Harold has served on the
Hillel Day School board and
as a past dinner chairman.
A number of programs open
to the community at no
charge are scheduled for the
year which will begin with a
breakfast presentation 8-9
a.m. Dec. 10. Rabbi Mayer
Rabinowitz will speak on
"Homosexuality and
Judaism: A Conservative
Perspective." Breakfast ses-
sions are also scheduled for
Jan. 14, "Women and
Judaism: Revolution or
Evolution"; March 9, "Tidbits
for Passover: Legends of the
Exodus NOT in the Hag-
gadah." .
A continental breakfast
will be available starting at
7:30 a.m. for a charge. The
study sessions will take place
in the first floor Butzel Con-
ference Suite of the Jewish
Federation building, 6735
Telegraph Road just south of
Maple Road.

JPM Names
Head Teacher
Amy Gottlieb, of West Bloom-
field, has been named child
development coordinator at
the Jimmy Prentis Morris
Jewish Community Center.
Ms. Gottlieb will be the head
teacher of the 3- and 4-year-
old nursery school class as
well as coordinate the entire
child development program at
JPM.
The program includes the <
nursery school and day care
program, daily drop-in
babysitting and child develop-
ment classes such as Ham-
mers and Nails, Buckets of
Bits, Mushy Gushy Creations
and the Toddler Family ,
Frolic.
New Classes
Set at JCC
The Educational Services
Department of the Jewish'
Community Center is taking
registration for the winter
semester of classes.
The Dance Department has
been expanded to include ad-
vanced ballet and pointe for
teens and adults with "‘
Christina at the Maple-Drake
building. Creative dance and
modern dance classes for ages
6 through 11 have been add-
ed at the Jimmy Prentis Mor-
ris building. These are in ad-
dition to the dance program of
Creative Dance, Pre-Ballet I
and .II, Ballet I and II, Tap I,
II and III, Jazz I and II, and
Street Dancing (for 6th- and
7th-graders). The adult por-
tion of the Dance Department
offers tap (beginner, in-
termediate and advanced),
belly dancing, modern,T_
ballroom, Israeli, as well as
the advanced ballet and
pointe.
Other classes offered are
computer (basic programm-
ing and word processsing),
bridge (beginner, inter-„,
mediate and advanced),
watercolor, creative ceramics,
drawing, tapestry, theater
and chess. The expanding
children's/teen program in-
cludes ceramics, expressions
through art, theater, magic,,,
chess and sign language.
In addition, the JCC has
clubs open to the public in
duplicate bridge, (Monday
morning 11 a.m.) and chess,
(Thursday evening 7 p.m.).

U-M Hosts
Israel Conference
The eighth Israel Con-
ference Day will be Jan. 31 at
the Rackham School of
Graduate Studies, on the U-M
campus. The day-long event is
free.
The conference will offer an
academic setting where dif-
ferent points of view will be
introduced and the audience
will have the opportunity to
interact.
