chapter held their an-
nual dinner dance honoring
Anna and. Alex Green-
berger and Mary Pappo
at Adat Shalom Synagogue
on Nov. 1. Judy Eisenberg
was chairperson of the event
that was dedicated to the
memory of Lenka Green-
berger.
Professor Benjamin
Sredni, dean of the faculty
of natural sciences and
mathematics at Bar-Ilan
University, told the 200
patrons about his research
in cancer, AIDS and im-
munology. His current pro-
ject focuses on the the drug
AS-101, which was first syn-
thesized at Bar-Ilan and is
now in clinical trials with
AIDS and cancer patients.
He was very encouraging
with his results that help to
protect the immune system.
Some studies show that AS-
101 prevents cancer treat-
ment patients from losing
their hair. His interspersed
humor in the slide show,
while his scientific lecture
was easy to understand.
During the dinner hour, he
spoke Spanish to Sam and
Faye Rosemberg, Hebrew
to Jacob and Ello Kalo
and English and Yiddish to
the many guests in the au-
dience. Mrs. Rosemberg ar-
ranged for the guest speaker
to attend the dinner and
received an honorary plaque

from the Israel Cancer
Association.

ARCHIVES ART

The Archives of American
Art held a preview gala to
highlight their mailbox art
auction on Nov. 19 at the
Galleria Officentre. The $25
admission will include
dinner and a chance to bid
on more than 150 mailboxes
commissioned by the Ar-
chives to world famous ar-
tists. Cele and Martin
Landay, Joyce and Myron
LaBan are benefit co-
chairmen. Some of the Ar-
chives aficionados include:
President David Leader,
Gloria Leader, Marilyn
Schlain, Irene Bader,
Carol and Ralph Coskey.
These unique mailboxes are
on display at the Galleria.
