The League of Jewish
Women's Organizations has
applications available for its
47th annual Youth Awards for
high school seniors.
To qualify for the annual
youth award of $500 the ap-
plicant must be a high school
senior, with at least a 3.0
grade point average; have a
formal Jewish education; be
actively involved in the com-
munity; and submit a one-
page typed essay on the sub-
ject: "As An American What
Role Does Israel Play In My
Jewish Identity?" Once
qualified, an applicant will be
interviewed by a panel of
judges.
The application and essay
must be received no later

First-Graders
Are Consecrated
First-graders from the Adat
Shalom Branch of the Agen-
cy for Jewish Education and
Hillel Day School will be
honored at Consecration er-
vices Nov. 14 at Adat Shalom.
The youngsters will be call-
ed to the bimah and greeted
by the clergy. They will each
receive a special gift from
Adat Shalom and will res-
pond with a short program of
songs. A kiddush in honor of
the youngsters will follow
services.

Young Judaea
Sets Conventions
Young- Judaea will host the
Bogrim Fall Convention for
Jewish high school students
Nov. 20-22 at. the Willson
Outdoor Center in Bellefon-
taine, Ohio. The fee for the
event includes transporta-
tion, registration and lodging.
Young Judaea will host its
Ofarim/Tsofim Fall Conven-
tion Dec. 4-6 at Greenfield
Lake Camp in Delaware,
Ohio, and is open to all third
through eighth-grade mem-
bers. There is a fee.
Kashrut and Shabbat are
strictly observed by all Young
Judaea events.
