Hear Endowment Expert

The Federated Endowment
Fund of the Jewish Federa-
tion will host Edward Jay
Beckwith, an expert in
management and distribu-
tion of personal finances, at
three seminars on charitable
giving Nov. 19, at the Max M.
Fisher Building. He will ad-
dress gatherings of the
Fund's professional advisory,
steering and women's endow-
ment committees.

Shaarit Haplaytah and the B'nai B'rith Albert Einstein Lodge and Chapter
honored Simon Schwarzberg at its annual dinner reception on behalf of
State of Israel Bonds at which $500,000 in State of Israel Bond Invest-

Yeshiva Gedolah
Plans Fund-Raiser

The Board of Directors of Jewish Federation Apartments recently dedicated the
Lillian and Samuel Hechtman II Federation Apartments on the Jewish Community
Campus. Lillian and Samuel Hechtman admire the newly affixed mezuzah, with
Rick Rosenhaus, Neil Satovsky, Marsha Goldsmith, Rabbi Nelson and Janet Levin.

The Northwest Child Rescue Women contribute a $10,000 check to the Jewish

The Yeshiva Gedolah will
honor its TORA Study
Program for men and
women, and 100 outstand-
ing students, and will pay
special tribute to the late
international Jewish lead-
er Dr. Leon Fill 6:30 p.m.
Nov. 17 at the Maple-
Drake Jewish Community
Center.
A hand-painted scroll of
honor will be presented to
Norman Fill and his fami-
ly. The scroll will com-
memorate Dr. Fill's
achievements and those of
the TORA Learning Pro-
gram.
The event will feature a
video presentation and
speaker Jay Margolis who
is on staff with Ohr
Somayach/Tanenbaum
College International
The annual event is the
main fund-raising activity.

Ukraine Trip
Yields Finds

"A Visit to the Ukraine:
Jewish Family Records
Now Available" will be the
topic of this month's meet-
ing of the Jewish
Genealogical Society of
Michigan 7:30 p.m. Nov.
16 at United Hebrew
Schools. Larry Horwitz of
Southfield will report on
his recent visit to ances-
tral towns in the Western
Ukraine where he was
able to do genealogical
research.
Mr. Horwitz will de-
scribe what specific infor-
mation can be obtained
and what arrangements
must be made. He will
also report on the current
revival of Jewish life now
occurring in Ukraine
where a half million Jews
still reside.

Machon Plans
Lunch, Lecture

Machon L'Torah will spon-
sor a lunchtime conference
in the Downtown Detroit
area noon Nov. 16 at the
law offices of Swanson,
Torgow, and Lyons, 511 E.
Larned.
Rabbi Jacobovitz will
deliver a lecture on "Abor-
tion, Kevorkian, Judaism."
A deli lunch will be
served; the event will con-
clude with a question and
answer session. There is a
charge for lunch.

the Allied Jewish Cam-

tributors of $2,500 or
more to the 1993 Cam-
paign.
Michigan's first Jewish
senator, Sen. Levin serves
on the Armed Services,
