a sophomore cen-
ter and linebacker
for the 1990 Cran-
brook High School
football team, Andy
Farbman got a taste
of losing. After the
team's 1-8 season,
Farbman did not like the
taste.
Two years and two head
coaches later, the 6'1", 210-
pound senior co-captain has
played a key role in the
resurgence of the Cranbrook
football program.
Farbman, a three-year
varsity starter, was named
second team All-League in
1991 — a year he led his
team to a respectable 5-4
record.

Cranbrook and Farbman.
The team finished the sea-
son at 6-3, good for second
place in the Metro Confer-
ence. Farbman has had an
excellent season, including
a 14 tackle and dominating
blocking effort against cross-
town rival University
Liggett in a 47-0 rout.
Farbman had his efforts
rewarded by being named to
the first team All-League
squad. That is "the icing on
the cake" for his high school
career.
Head coach Del Walden
says, "Andy loves the game
of football." Walden has of-
ten marveled at Farbman's
development into an "excel-
lent blocker who knows how
to adjust to all types of situ-
ations on the line."

Farbman, elected co-cap-
tain by a vote of his team-
mates, is described by the
coach as a "spokesman for
the other 26 players to the
coach. Through Andy's lead-
ership as a player on the
field he gets the respect of
the team. The other players
look up to him.
"It's been a true delight
working with Andy as a cap-
tain. Whenever there is a
problem with any of the
players, he acts as a liaison
between the player and the
coach. He helps me monitor
the pulse and mood of the
team."
Farbman is interested in
playing college football "at a
small New England college
with an emphasis on acade-
mics over sports." Although
