Forgotten Harvest has elected

Forgotten Harvest is a non-
profit organization dedicated
to eliminating hunger by
collecting surplus perishable
food from wholesalers,
distributors, vending compa-
nies and other health
department-approved
facilities. The food is
delivered to soup kitchens
and shelters in the Metro
Detroit area.
Alyn To Honor
Rae Sharfman
Detroit Friends of Alyn
Hospital will pay tribute to
Rae Ann Sharfman for her
devotion not only to Alyn
Hospital but also the Detroit
Jewish community.
The fund-raiser will take
place 7:30 p.m. Nov. 11 at the
home of Sondra Berlin. Ms.
Berlin's home is handicapped
accessible.

New Deadlines
The Jewish News is permanently changing its local
news deadline to noon Thursday for the following week's
publication. The change will allow more time to copy-edit
and proofread material sent to the newspaper. The
deadlines are:
Local news, noon Thursday
Birth announcements, 10 a.m. Tuesday
Out-of-town obituaries, 10 a.m. Wednesday
All materials to be published must be typewritten,
double-spaced, on 81/2 by 11 paper, and include the name
and daytime telephone number of the sender. For com-
plete information on submitting press releases, marriage

"Planning Today for a More
Secure Ibmorrow: Residential
Alternatives for People with
Disabilities" will be the topic
of the annual meeting of
Keshet, the organization for
Jewish Families of Children
with Special Needs, 7 p.m.
Nov. 18 at the Agency for
Jewish Education. The
speaker will be Joyce Keller,
executive director of JARC.
The 1993 Keshet officers will
be elected.
Ms. Keller will give an over-
view of the residential care
system and advise parents on
how to prepare now to ensure
the future of their young and
adult children.
Keshet provides support
and advocacy services for
families who have children, of
any age, with disabilities of
any kind.
The meeting is free of
charge and open to the public.

The Greater Detroit Inter-
faith Round Table will spon-
sor a program exploring the
Golden Age of harmony in
Spain among Muslims, Chris-
tians and Jews before 1492

Holiday Toy Party
Kadima will have a holiday
toy party with Discovery Toys
7 p.m. Nov. 12 at 4951 Susans
Way, Bloomfield Hills. A per-
centage of the sales evening
will directly benefit Kadima's
Supported Employment
Program.
During the event, an
educational consultant will
introduce
a
line
of
educational and development
toys, books and games. All
toys ordered at the event have
a guaranteed delivery date by
early December, in time for
Chanukah.
