Women's Organiza-
tions of Greater
Detroit held their
opening meeting, honoring
the presidents of all Jewish
women's organizations, on
Oct. 22 at Congregation
Shaarey Zedek. Joe
Weaver, editorial director of
WJBK-TV2, was the guest
speaker. Mr. Weaver spoke
on the importance of com-
munity involvement.
President Charlotte
Edelheit greeted the stellar
group of women, which in-
cluded several United Way
Heart of Gold winners and
presidents of local Jewish
organizations. Some of the
league members included:
Bessie Chase, Dorothy
Cohen, Eleanor Maness,
Rhea Rowe, Hanna
Linden, Joanne Zuroff,
Libby Zalenko, Susan
Barr, Rosalyn Liner,
Evelyn Noveck, Cynthia
Franklin, Ann Zousmer,
Betty Silverfarb and
Trudy Weiss.
INTERNATIONAL FILMS
Oakland Community Col-
lege recently held a
Detroit/Prague Interna-
tional Festival with an eve-
ning of film, music and
dance. Detroit film makers
Sue Marx, of Sue Marx
Films, and David
Stern participated in the
event.
David Stern
Mr. Stern recently moved
back to Detroit from New
York. He graduated from
New York's University's
Film School and has been
involved in the arts for the
past 15 years. He produced
and directed "Suite Harry,"
which was featured at the
festival. He is just completed
a feature film script
"Bleecker Street," that he is
looking forward to direct.
His parents, Harold and
Doris Stern, reside in
Southfield.
