Quartet Opens
7 Concert Series

The Julius Chajes Music
Fund Concert Series will
open the 1992-93 Season 3:30
p.m. Oct. 25 at. the Maple-
Drake Jewish Community
Center.
The Rackham String
Quartet will be presented in
a concert featuring the music
of Mozart, Mendelssohn and
Dvorak. Rackham Quartet
was founded as the Graduate
Quartet at the University of
Michigan and was awarded
the Gustav Rosseels Prize in
Chamber Music. Last spring
the quartet won first prize at
the Coleman Chamber Music
Competition.

The Loren B. Fischer
Cultural Arts Series for
Children and Their Families
will begin its third season 1
p.m. Nov. 1 with the perfor-
mance of The Tiger of
Chungshan, a children's
opera with a Chinese flavor,
at Temple Beth El. It will be
performed by four members of
the Michigan Opera Theatre's
Community Programs De-
partment.
The series is designed to in-
troduce children to the
theater, music and dance.
The Tiger of Chungshan is
open to all children of all ages
free of charge.
