Aish HaTorah
Sets Lecture Series

Aish HaTorah will begin its
1992-1993 lecture series 8
p.m. Oct. 29 at Bais Yakov,
14390 W. Ten Mile, Oak Park.
Dr. Gerald Schroeder will ad-
dress the age of the universe
and the origin of species. Dr.
Schroeder is the author of
Genesis and Big Bang: The
Discovery of Harmony Bet-
ween Modern Science and the
Bible.
Since 1971 Dr. Schroeder
has worked in Israel at the
Weizmann Institute, has
acted as a scientific adviser
for several countries and has
lectured around the world.
Future lecturers will in-
clude Rabbi Yaakov
Weinberg, dean of Ner Israel
Rabbinical College, Rabbi
Noah Weinberg, dean of Aish
HaTorah College in
Jerusalem; Mrs. Miriam
Adahan, psychologist and

Workshop Set
On Election '92

A workshop for individuals
to look at "Jewish Issues and
the '92 Election" with Jewish
News political columnist Kim
Lifton will be offered by the
Temple Emanu-El Education
Department 8-9 p.m. Oct.
12-Nov. 9 at the temple.
The workshop will survey
the candidates, both local and
national, on issues of interest
to the Jewish community. The
sessions will feature guest
speakers with various areas
of expertise. The final class
session will be a wrap-up of
the election.

Machon Plans
Hebrew Classes

Machon L'Torah will offer
two Hebrew crash courses. A
course in conversational
Hebrew, led by Rabbi Shaul
Broner, will be held 7:30-9
p.m. Sunday evenings for six
weeks beginning Nov. 1.
There is a fee.
For those with little or no
Hebrew background, a course
in Hebrew reading, led by Jeff
Perlstein, will be held 7:30-9
p.m. Tuesday evenings for five
weeks beginning Nov. 3.
There is a fee.
Both classes will be offered
at the Machon Learning
Center, 15221 W. 10 Mile Rd.;
reservations are required. For
