Attention
Teens
and their parents
hardly a surprise that the
final day of Sukkot has come
to be known as Simchat
Torah, a day devoted to ex-
pressing our joy in the
Torah.
Torah is our hidden
weapon, guaranteeing vic-
tory when properly observ-
ed: "And it came to pass
when the Ark set forward
that Moses said, 'Rise up 0
Lord, and let your enemies
be scattered, and let those
who hate you flee before
you." (Numbers 10:35). And
Torah is the necessary con-
dition for our ultimate
redemption.
Sukkot is a magnificent
synthesis — and even dialec-
tic — of nature and spirit, of
agriculture and symbolism,
of this-world involvement
and coming-world redemp-
tion. May the post Sukkot
rain yield bountiful produce
in Israel and may the spiri-
tual waters of redemption
bring peace to Israel and the
world. ❑
