Recently, Ms. Birger found a policewoman '. - anding by her car; she had been waiting there for two hours — not to give her a ticket but to thank her for having made it all possible. Trudi Birger's selfless devo- tion to others earned her na- j- ional recognition in 1981 when she received the Presi- dent's Award for Volunteerism from President Navon and in 1991 when she was named a 'Worthy of 'Jerusalem' by Mayor Teddy .Kollek.
