arneys New York and
Detroit Men's ORT
hosted a breakfast
preview Sept. 10 at the new
Troy store in the Somerset
Collection. More than 150
Men's ORT members at-
tended the event with guest
speaker Peter Rizzo, senior
. vice president of Barneys
men's merchandise.
ORT executive director
Doris August greeted
guests during the breakfast
hour. Detroit Chapter presi-
dent Jim Colman in-
troduced David Hermelin,
the honorary president, who
spoke about ORT and its
vocational schools. Mr. Col-
man said Mr. Hermelin
needs no introduction, that
he is really the "Elvis of
Detroit" and could have fill-
ed the void for presidential
candidates when Ross Perot
quit the race. Mr. Hermelin
was equally humorous when
he asked the crowd if they
dressed differently for the
fashion affair and decided to
wear something stylish.
"Instead of lunch and learn,
this is breakfast and buy,"
said Mr. Hermelin.
Barneys New York do-
nated a percentage of the
day's sales to ORT. They are
also offering made-to-
measure suits by designer
Ermenegildo Zegna at no
extra charge for the month
of September.
Ken Korotkin bought a
shirt to support ORT, while
Joel Shapiro purchased
socks and ordered a few
suits. Some of the people
spotted in the crowd includ-
ed: Robert Orley, Gary
Ran, Daniel Frank,
Steven Grant, Selwyn
Isakow, Mark Kahn, Levi
Smith, Larry Wolfe, Bob
Aronoson, Norm Pappas,

Nate Forbes, Lou Glazier,
Alan Kaufman.
