"They do it for New Yorkers every year," said Ms. Herman, the cultural arts director of the Berkeley Richmond Jewish Community Center in Berkeley, Calif. After the planners placed a tiny ad in a throw-away newspaper in Berkeley, the phone has been ringing off the hook from former Detroiters who want to talk about Faygo pop, Vernors and Sanders hot fudge sun- daes. Some of the reunion planners include: Marcia 13ocan, Sandi and Ben Harris, Susie R. Locke, Carol Stone, Mitzi Ratcliff and Paula Haberman. The reunion will take place Oct. 3 at 8 p.m. at the Berkeley Jewish Commun- 'ty Center. For more infor- mation, call Harriet Herman at (510) 848-0237. 0 When do Jews and Gentiles rejoice together?
