SOCIETY Senior Sports Meet Set For Israel Senior adults interested in participating in the first Israeli American Seniors Sports Meet are invited to an informational meeting 5 p.m. Sept. 23 in Room 239 at the Maple-Drake Jewish Com- munity Center. Sponsored by the Israel Desk of the Jewish Federa- tion, the Nov. 2-14 mission will be based at Israel's Wingate Institute for Physical Education and Sport, where all competitions will be held. Participants may compete in bowling, crafts, golf, ping pong, racquetball, running, speed walking, swimming, tennis and other activities. The mission, which costs $1,800 per person, includes three meals a day, visits to Jerusalem and the Galilee and a lecture and tour of the Wingate Institute, Israel's na- tional center for educational and scientific activities in physical education, sports, recreation and rehabilitation. JPM Plans Senior Events Senior Discount Identifica- tion Cards will be offered at the Jimmy Prentis Morris Jewish Community Center 10-2 p.m. Oct. 1. The cards, which entitle older adults to receive discounts from mer- chants, are available to residents of Oakland County who are over age 60. The' photo identification card also includes the individual's name, address, birthdate and social security number. A Russian language film will be offered 2 p.m. on the first and third Friday of each month at JPM. There is no charge. High Holiday services for unaffiliated senior adults will be offered at JPM Sept. 27, 28, 29 and Oct. 6, 7. Ms. Hund will discuss the wide range of alternative reading resources. This group is coordinated with Sinai Hospital's Vision Rehabilitation Institute and is open to the public.
