Volunteer Institute Day 1
p.m. Sept. 21 at the Jewish
Family Service main office,

Speakers at the event will
be Phyllis Schwartz, director
of the J.F.S. Senior Services
Department; and Sandra Jaf-
fa, director of the J.F.S. Fami-
ly Violence Prevention
Program.
Dessert and coffee will be
served. The event is free for
all volunteers of Jewish Fami-
ly Service and Resettlemnt

The causes and conse-
quences of the June 1967 war
between Israel and its Arab
neighbors will be examined at
a 9:30 a.m. Sept. 14-16 inter-
national conference at
McGregor Memorial Con-
ference Center on the campus
of Wayne State University.
Titled "The June War: Six
Days 25 Years Later," the con-
ference is open to the public
free of charge.
An opening address by an
expert on arms control is
planned for 8 p.m. Sept. 13 at
the Maple-Drake Jewish
Community Center. The topic
is "Strategies of War and
Peace in the Middle East."
Admission is free.
The event is sponsored by
the Cohn-Haddow Center for
Judaic Studies at WSU in
cooperation with the Moshe
Dayan Center for Middle
Eastern and African Studies
at Tel Aviv University. For in-

will present an "Elections '92
Update" 12:30 p.m. Sept. 21
at Adat Shalom Synagogue.
The program, sponsored by
the synagogue's sisterhood,
will follow a business meeting
and refreshment hour. Ms.
Lifton will offer an analysis of
Jewish issues and voting in
the November elections and
will entertain questions. The
program is open to the com-
munity at no charge.
