Soviet Union she felt
persecuted — and with the
changes occurring there,
Mrs. Tsyplyakov and her
husband believe the Jewish
people remain unprotected
from violence.
The Tsyplyakovs said it
was difficult to leave their
lives and their country
behind, but knew they must
go for their own safety. In
the United States they found
Judaism to fill that void in
their hearts.
"We are very proud of the
Jewish people. We are in the
process of becoming a part of
it," Mrs. Tsyplyakov said.

something real within the
Jewish way of life. We begin

this week hope to reach an
agreement with a Detroit
juice company that has been
stamping products with a
"K" without proper au-
thorization.

The company, Juiceland,
Inc., entered into a contract
agreement with the MKC in
December 1987 but opted to
end MKC supervision in Oc-
tober 1991. However,
Juiceland products still bear
the MKC's symbol.

MKC attorney Akiva
Goldman said the company
legally cannot label its foods
kosher without Orthodox
rabbinical supervision. He
said the product must be
routinely inspected even if

felt similarly. After 14 years
of marriage, they were
remarried in a Jewish
ceremony in February. They
had been in the United
States for three years.
Mrs. Feldman said the
ceremony Sunday helped her
to feel like a "real Jewish
woman."
"We wanted to be real
Jews, to understand what it 4"
is to be Jewish," Mrs..
Feldman said.
The couple attends ser-

are kosher.
Mr. Goldman said
Juiceland now has two
choices: destroy its labels
bearing the symbol, which
he says would cost the corn:
pany exorbitant fees, or have
the MKC recertify the juice
company as kosher.
Juiceland attorneys could
not be reached, but Mr
Goldman said he presumes
the company will come to an
agreement on mutual terms.

Mr. Goldman said he be-
lieves Juiceland may have •
been using up old labels with
the kosher symbol, rather'
than purchasing new ones.
"We don't care if they are
kosher or not," Mr. Goldman
said. "But don't tell people
that we vouched for it if the
product is not a certified
product. We have no choice.
but to police the use of our
symbol." ❑
