Olizer Released
From Russia Jail

Washington — Mark Glizer,
a Russian Jew who was
sentenced to five years im-
prisonment in early June for
the Soviet era crime of
was released
Sept. 1 from prison. Glizer
was the beneficiary of an
amnesty passed by the
Supreme Soviet of the Rus-
sian Federation on June 19,
and was freed after a hearing
-on Aug. 31.
Glizer was arrested in July
1991 for allegedly serving as
the contact between a buyer
and seller of an automobile.
He was charged with specula-
tion, the sale of private pro-
Dperty for profit.
An investigation determin-
ed that Glizer never owned
the car, believed the arrange-
ment involved the lease of the
automobile, and never made
any profit from the transac-
tion. Furthermore, the crime
of speculation was revoked in
December 1991.
