What's going on at Beth El? c, Keshet, JIS Sponsor Forums "Relieving Stress and Nur- turing the Family Unit" will be the focus of a forum 7:30 p.m. Sept. 16 at the United Hebrew Schools. The presentation, spon- sored by Keshet and the Jewish Information Service (JIS), will feature Barbara Halpern, an educational specialist with the Oakland University Continuum Center and Macomb Com- munity College. Keshet, a national agency organized in 1983 to help parents of special-needs child- ren, works to help alleviate the feelings of isolation and frustration experienced by these families. JIS is the Detroit Jewish community's resource about education, communal agen- cies, support services for peo- ple with disabilities, recrea- tional programs and a broad — spectrum of facts about Jewish life and services. The forum will be followed at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 17 by "Both Sides of Mental Illness," a personal and professional perspective on mental illness by psychologist Frederick Frese at the Oakland County D Commissioners' Auditorium, 1200 North Telegraph in Pontiac.
