Names Chairmen

Nathan Upfal will join
Richard Broder as Allied
Jewish Campaign chairman
of the Jewish Federation's
Young Adult Division.
Vice president of YAD last
year, Mr. Upfal was the
board's liaison to the Political
Awareness Committee. Co-
chairman of the $2,500 Sec-
tion for the 1992 Campaign,
he also is a past co-chairman
of the YAD $1,000 Section,
the division's liaison program
and its Professional Outreach
committee.
Mr. Broder, who has served
on the YAD Executive Com-
mittee since 1989, co-chaired
the division's $1,000 and $100
sections, its Super Sunday
and new gifts committees,
and the 1988 Hatikvah Sum-
mer Singles Mission. He also
served on the United Jewish
Foundation Real Estate and
Grants and Distribution com-
mittees and Federation's
Capital Needs Division.

Richard Curtin

Dr. Richard Curtin, director
of surveys of consumers for
the University of Michigan's
Survey Research Center, will
address the next Economic
Forum luncheon, sponsored
by the Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit, noon
Sept. 21 at the Skyline Club,

2000 Town Center, South-
field. He will discuss the ef-
fects of the recession and the
presidential election on con-
sumer attitudes.
Co-editor of the Journal of
Economic Psychology Dr. Cur-
tin reports on his research in
the areas of consumer saving
and spending behavior,
household income and
wealth, and public policy pref-
erences. Dr. Curtin is a mem-
ber of the American Econo-
mic Association for Consumer
Research and the Interna-
tional Association for Re-
search in Economic
Psychology.
The Economic Forum is
sponsored by Federation to
promote an interest in its ac-
tivities and to discuss impor-
tant political, economic and
social issues.
A sign-language interpreter
will be present at the lun-
cheon. There is a charge for
