ship and financial assistance,

Israel Desk of the Jewish
Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit.
Directed by Sivan Maas, the
community shlichah, the of-

tation and accommodations
in Israel. It provides a varie-
ty of locally and nationally
sponsored opportunities for
people of all ages. In addition
to tours, non-traditional ex-
periences include high school,
university and direct service
programs.
The Israel Desk's Center for
Israel Scholarships is a clear-
inghouse of information
about financial assistance
and scholarships. Many of
these are available through
Federation, congregations,
Hebrew schools, community
and youth groups, and na-
tional organizations which of-
fer funds to young people
traveling to Israel on educa-
tional or service programs.
These include members of
the B'nai B'rith Youth
Organization, United Hebrew
High School graduates and
Midrasha students, members
of several local congregations,

The Ben Teitel Israel Incen-
tive Savings Plan provides
$100 up to $700 for each year
a student at an area Jewish
day, Sunday or afternoon
school saves $150 toward
Israel travel-study, beginning
in the fifth, sixth and seventh
grades.
Among the travel, study,

Desk are:

sister city
• Kesher, an eight-day reu-
nion mission for past Israel

college-age young adults and
