OLDSMOBILES FOR LESS
New programs are available
for adults and children with
vision and hearing im-
pairments at the Jewish Corn-
munity Center.
Support groups for adults
with vision and hearing im-
pairments are offered at both
the Maple-Drake and Jimmy
Prentis Morris buildings.
Daytime groups and evening
groups are available. These
groups offer social, educa-
tional, and recreational op-
portunities for their
participants.
Plans are under way for an
ongoing gym/swim program
for elementary age students
who are visually impaired to
begin in September.
The Center has purchased a
closed circuit television (elec-
tronic reading machine) for
the public to use in the
library of the Maple-Drake
building. This machine
enlarges printed or photogra-
phic material up to 60 times
• its normal size.
The Maple-Drake building
offers a gentle movement ex-
ercise class for adults with vi-
sion or movement limitations,
and a monthly swim for
• families with a member with
7 special needs.
The Center offers sign in-
terpreted programs through
its Senior Adult Department
'- and will continue to do so for
special events. In addition, a
teen workout for hearing im-
paired youth will be offered in
September which will be sign
interpreted.
For more information about
the Center's programs and
services for people with vision
of hearing impairments, call
Margo Weitzer, 661-1000. For
programs for people with
developmental disabilities,
call Leanie Gunsberg.
