Honors Suzman

African Jew who served as an
anti-apartheid member of
parliament from 1953 to
1989, will be the guest at a
buffet dinner of the Shofar
Society 7 p.m. Sept. 15 at the
home of Dr. and Mrs. Amnon
Rosenthal, Ann Arbor.
Ms. Suzman has received 18
honorary doctorates and
numerous humanitarian
awards, including the Human
Rights Award of the United
Nations and the American
Liberties Medallion of the I
American Jewish Committee.

Movie Gala
Is A Benefit

The United Scleroderma
Foundation wil host a gala
movie premiere and afterglow
7:30 p.m. Aug. 30 at the Star
John R Theatre.
Selma Schwartz and
Michelle Wasik are co-chairs
of the movie gala and
afterglow. WJBK-TV 2 An-
chorwoman Sherry Margolis
and Chicago Tribune colum-
nist Jeff Zaslow are honorary
co-chairs of the event.
The United Scleroderma
Foundation of Michigan gives
hope, contact and support,
public and professional educa-
tion and promotes medical
research. Proceeds from the
gala will go toward research
for scleroderma. Tickets may
