Communal Wedding
Seven recently-arrived
couples from the former
Soviet Union will re-establish
their wedding vows as they
enter for the first time into
the traditional Jewish mar-
riage rite of chuppah 2 p.m.
Sept. 6 at the Jimmy Prentis
Morris Jewish Community
Center.
The public is invited to par-
ticipate in this event, which
will be followed by a reception
featuring refreshments and
dancing to a live band. A wed-
ding dinner will be served at
6 p.m.; there will be a charge.

The "7% Solution," the
state-wide hunger campaign
coordinated by the Jewish
Community Council, is in
need of volunteers to help
recruit restaurants to par-
ticipate in the program.
Volunteers are given a packet
of materials to help them
describe the benefits of par-
ticipation to restaurateurs. •
The list of "7% Solution"
restaurants has increased in
each of the five years of the
campaign.
The "7% Solution" for
World Food Day raises funds
for Michigan emergency food .
providers through a growing
network of restaurants. On 41
World Food Day (Oct. 15 this
year), participating restau-
rants donate up to 7% of that
day's proceeds to a network of
more than 300 food pantries,
shelters and soup kitchens all
over the state of Michigan.

teer to recruit restaurants
